With travel starting to become more of a possibility for you and your family, it’s no wonder that you’re daydreaming about taking a vacation! As any parent knows, there is a lot of preparation that goes into preparing your little ones for travel. No one wants to find themselves in an unfamiliar place without the essentials for your baby. So what are some of the essentials that you’ll want to have on hand for your newborn? Take a look at some of our favorites!

The Right Sleeping Arrangements

Ensuring that your little one gets a good night’s sleep is going to make everyone’s vacation that much better. Make sure you’re coming with all of the right gear to make your newborn’s sleeping schedule a success. Bring a port-a-crib along with some soft, fitted sheets to keep them comfortable, as well as a portable white noise machine. Depending on how old your baby is, you will always want to bring either a swaddle or a sleep sack to help them stay warm and cozy.

A Good Baby Carrier

No matter what kind of vacation you’re going on, whether it’s to the beach, on a hike through the mountains, or at a high end resort, you will want a baby carrier with you to keep your little one close by. Make sure you have one that is comfortable for both you and your little one. You’re going to be wearing it quite a bit, so it’s worth it to invest in a baby carrier that keeps both of you at ease as you go on your adventures!

A Nursing Cover

If you’re breastfeeding your newborn, you may find that you want a nursing cover while on your vacation. While you don’t necessarily have to cover up every time you nurse your little one, you may find that you’re more comfortable giving yourself some privacy while in a new place. If you’re going somewhere a bit chilly, it could also lend a hand in keeping your baby warm while feeding. So even if you’re bottle feeding, a nursing cover can make a big difference!

Silicone Bibs and Mats

If your little one is transitioning into eating solids, some silicone bibs and place mats are a must, especially when traveling. We love them because they’re so incredibly easy to clean! With traditional cloth bibs, you’ll need to throw it in the washing machine after one use. For most vacations, you won’t have easy access to a laundry room, which is what makes silicone bibs and place mats so great. You can rinse them off in the sink, or even use a baby wipe after the meal. Did we mention how easy they are to transport? Just stick them in the diaper bag and go!

Easy Travel Toys

Make sure you have the right travel toys on hand to keep your newborn busy while traveling. You don’t want anything with too many pieces or moving parts, and you don’t want anything that requires too much assembly. Some books with bright colors are a good way to go, as well as toys that feature different colors and textures to keep their hands occupied. If you have the space, you might even consider bringing along a play mat for them.

Taking your family on a vacation is something that you should be excited about! Make sure you have all of the proper tools and supplies for your newborn to help make it a success. So make that packing list and get ready to make some fun memories together!
