How to prepare for the MPPSC Syllabus for Prelims?

The Madhya Pradesh Public Service Commission conducts the MPPSC Exam. The commission is a state-level organisation that also conducts various exams for the posts of civil judges, judicial officers, police constables and many more.

The MPPSC Exam is of two parts – Prelims and Mains. The first part of the examination consists of 100 objective type questions and each question carries one mark. The duration of this part is 3 hours. A candidate has to secure at least 60% marks to qualify for the Prelims. After qualifying, the candidate will be called for the Mains which consists of 200 objective type questions with 4 options and carries one mark each. The Mains exam lasts 3 hours for which a candidate has to secure at least 60% marks to qualify.

Syllabus of MPPSC Prelims 

The MPPSC Prelims consists of two papers of objective type questions, set in English and Hindi.

The questions in Paper-I and Paper-II will test the candidate’s knowledge of General Studies. Both papers have questions in Hindi and English, except for the English Language Comprehension section in Paper-I. Let us look at the tips to prepare MPPSC syllabus.

1. Start preparing early

Also, if you have ample time at hand, then there is no need for a last-minute rush. Rather, this will give you enough time to revise your notes before appearing for the exam.

2. Have a study plan

Make a study plan and update it regularly. This will make sure you don’t miss out on any topic during your preparation period. Keep track of your progress and make changes as per your needs once every two weeks or so. This will help you stay motivated throughout and also allow enough time to revise.

3. Keep study material handy

The first step to prepare for any exam is to get the best study material. For the MPPSC State Service Preliminary Examination, there are many books available in the market.

For geography and history, refer to the Lucent series, or any good YouTube videos or articles on the topic would also be of good help.

For polity, refer to the book by M Laxmikanth. It is the best book for polity for both Prelims and Mains. Refer to the Lexicon book too for additional info.

For economics, read NCERT class XI and XII textbooks on economics. It is enough for the Prelims exam. For additional information, read Ramesh Singh’s book on the Indian economy.

4. Manage time wisely

Time management is crucial for cracking any examination. Make a proper timetable and start preparing as per that. There are many apps in the Play Store which will help you manage time efficiently.

5. Refer to the previous year’s question papers

After completing a topic, go through the previous year’s question papers of the MPPSC State Service Preliminary Examination and check how many questions have been asked from that particular topic. This will help bring focus on topics which are important from the examination point of view.
